URGENT: Postponement of Special General Meeting (SGM) scheduled for 9 March 2026
Kia ora koutou,
I am writing to you on behalf of the ARANZ Council to formally advise that the Special General Meeting (SGM) scheduled for tomorrow, Monday 9 March 2026, has been postponed until further notice.
Reason for Postponement This decision has been made for two primary reasons:
Notice Period Compliance: Upon internal review, we identified that the notice provided for this meeting did not meet the 30-day statutory requirement set out in our current 2020 Constitution. To ensure that any future vote on our new Constitution is robust and procedurally correct, we will reset the process to adhere strictly to our Association's rules.
Incorporating Member Feedback: We have received constructive and thoughtful feedback from members over the last few days. This feedback covers everything from specific constitutional interpretations to matters of style and clarity. The Council believes it is vital to address these points and update the draft Constitution before asking the membership to vote. We want to ensure the version we present for adoption is one that the majority of our members feel confident supporting.
Next Steps and Feedback We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this short-notice postponement may cause, particularly to those who had already made arrangements to attend virtually or by proxy.
Your engagement is invaluable to this process. In lieu of the discussions that would have taken place at the SGM, we invite you to submit any further comments regarding the draft Constitution via email to the Secretary (secretary@aranz.org.nz). Please submit your feedback by Thursday, 12 March 2026, to allow Council time to review and incorporate these views into a final revised draft.
Looking Ahead The Council is currently working through the re-registration requirements under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022. We will communicate with you shortly regarding a rescheduled SGM date. This will be accompanied by a new set of supporting papers, including a revised Constitution that reflects the feedback received.
Thank you for your patience and for your continued commitment to the future of the Association!
Ngā mihi,
Richard Foy President, ARANZ
