Initial Results from the ARANZ Community Archives Survey

Initial Results from the ARANZ Community Archives Survey

Kia ora koutou,
Mā tēnei kupu e tau te ora.
Following Archives New Zealand’s decision to decommission the Community Archive Website, ARANZ resolved to solicit the perspectives of all Community Archive stakeholders to understand its future. A short survey was conducted of users, researchers and institutions, that are impacted by the decommissioning of the Community Archive. Users were asked to discuss their knowledge and engagement with The Community Archive (TCA) or its earlier iteration, the National Register of Archives and Manuscripts (NRAM).Comments were solicited on the usefulness and mechanics of the TCA, practicality and availability of desired information. Comments were encouraged on the future of the resource, potential responsibility for the TCA, and funding options to maintain it if it was to be re-established. This report is meant to briefly present the initial findings on the perspectives of TCA stakeholders. A full and detailed analysis will follow later. It provides an overview ofresponses and updates you on the current status of the analysis process.
Ngā mihi,
Eric Boamah – ARANZ President
