Scandal Already Here
Timed perfectly to coincide with the ARANZ Records and Archives Week, scandal has erupted in the UK in the last few days regarding the illegal and furtive destruction of colonial period records, many of which documented serious wrong doing in the final days of the British Empire. The Guardian has reported that a review uncovereed the illegal destruction of thousands of papers detailing illicit, illegla or atrocious behaviour. Others were secretly archived in a Foreign Office facility in Hanslope Park, to prevent them falling into the hands of newly independent governments.
