Message from the ARANZ President
December 2008
In November, the new council for 2008-9 met for the first time. Along with general business, we updated our Strategic Plan for the next three years and developed our Annual Plan.
Both have been based on feedback from members over the last couple of years, the current environment for archives and recordkeeping and where we feel we are situated in relation to other professional associations in the information management space. In our Strategic Plan, we were particularly keen to respond to members’ calls to play more of an advocacy role and to be moer involved in support and development opportunities for practitioners.
The Annual Plan is for 2008-09 and, of course, that year is nearly half way through already. You may be interested to know that Council will move to holding five meetings a year from 2009, to better maintain momentum and progress some of our projects.
The Council is very keen to have feedback from members on the Strategic Plan. Although it will be reviewed each year for the next three, we do want to know that it meets the aspirations of the majority of members for the future of ARANZ. If you have comments you’d like to make, please email president@aranz.org.nz
The important thing for both the short and medium-term plans is that they take the Association forwards and improve the services we provide to members and other stakeholders in the records and archives community. They must at the same time, however, be realistic and achievable. We hope that we have managed to achieve this balance.
Feel free to give Council feedback any time via this email address, too: president@aranz.org.nz
