Message from the ARANZ President

President’s Message October 2007

ARANZ Council met this month for the last meeting of the year. One of the key things we did was to clarify our objectives around what has become known as Records and Archives Week. For the last few years, ARANZ, along with RMAA, has organized this annual event to spread the message of the importance of archives and records management out to the wider world. We hope that May 2008 will be even more successful in getting the message out than it has been in the past, particularly beyond Wellington. Council wants to help you promote the message of the value of archives and records – and the people who manage them - in a focused week of promotion, by coming up with materials or other promotional activities. You will hear more from us nearer the time.

We are also about to send out a survey to all personal members of ARANZ to find out how we are meeting your needs now and what you would like us to do differently. This is particularly important because we will be reviewing our publications (including website) early in the new year, so we encourage you to take the time to give us your feedback when you receive the survey. Results will also feed into a wider marketing plan. ARANZ is here to serve its members and we need to know what you need, to encourage growth and to increasingly become a recognisable and authoritative voice behind our members.

As always, if you have thoughts you’d like to share on the above issues, don’t hesitate to contact me - Joanna Newman
